Will you be our first FIDI 39 Club Scholar?

Isabelle Harsch: Every 39 Club member wants to come to Amsterdam for the FIDI Conference in April next year, but not everyone’s company will have the budget to send them. And that’s a pity, because we want to help young professionals in our industry improve their skills – and we believe that attending the FIDI Conference is one of the best ways to achieve this.

As a result, we have decided to put in place the 39 Club Scholarship. I spoke to my fellow 39 Club Board members to find out more about the programme.

How will the scholarship work?

Morgana Somers: Our goal is to reach as many young FIDI Affiliate employees as possible. Sadly, not everyone is fortunate enough to be able to attend the FIDI Conference. This can be especially challenging for young professionals, so we decided to take action:

“Every year one lucky candidate will be given the means to attend the FIDI Conference as a 39 Club member.” – Morgana

We are already very excited to welcome our first winner during the 2019 Conference in Amsterdam!

Where did the idea come from?

“The FIDI Conference is where the 39 Club is at its most active.” – Jackie

Jackie Stouffer: We are always looking to encourage new members to join. Today, the 39 Club has 125 members; but only a fraction has the privilege of attending the annual FIDI Conference. That’s unfortunate, because:

There are also plenty of young professionals who may not have had the opportunity to become 39 Club members. This can make it difficult to gain exposure and build connections in our industry. Our hope is that, through the Scholarship, we can reach not only existing 39 Club members – who do not have the opportunity to regularly attend the Conference – but also engage with new members.

What will this project bring to the 39 Club – and to FIDI?

Alexandra Schmidt: Every year we see many familiar faces at the 39 Club Conference. But we know that there are a lot of members – and non-39 Club members – who are excited to get more involved with our club and the industry as a whole. We wanted to create a platform for young professionals to showcase the projects they are passionate about.

“We thought the scholarship would be a great way to learn more from and about each other.” – Alexandra

We hope that this initiative will be a big success and that every year we will have more candidates, increased involvement, new and interesting topics, as well as emerging trends that young professionals are bringing to the table.

How can you qualify for the Scholarship?

“We would love to learn more about your ideas and visions for the 39 Club.” – Jessica

Jessica Deutschmann: You have to be 39 or younger and share how you make an impact – be it in your local community or in your company. We look forward to hearing about charity projects or community services that you are involved in, as well as any additional dedication you’ve shown towards projects within your company –  such as taking care of even younger talents who’ve joined.

How can you apply?

We will soon send detailed information, including how and when to apply, to all 39 Club members. We will also publish the guidelines in the next issue of FIDI Focus.
